Welcome!

Hello! My name is Pinocchio and I am participating in the Washington Trail Association's Hike-a-thon this August. For many years I had been kept in a geocache in Discovery Park in Seattle. Then, one day, Evan found me and now I am helping him hike the trails of Washington State to help the WTA raise money to keep trails open to everyone. I am certain that I will see many wonderful places and meet some great people. I am so excited that you sponsored Evan and Jessica in their quest to hike 50 miles this month. Come back and visit my blog to see all the wonderful places that you can hike.  Happy Trails!

Pete Lake - Evan: 8 Miles

August is just cruising by so we opted to so with a fast, easy 8 mile hike to Pete Lake. We are now at 53 miles total for Jessica and Evan!!! Thanks so much to everyone who is sponsoring us.  We just made our hiking goal and  your help is appreciated greatly.  We are still only 38% towards our financial goal so if you have not pledged yet, please do!
Cooper river was so clear!
We passed a wonderful little meadow along the way.
There were still some great wild flowers on the trail.
Pete Lake.
We saw some incredible mountains in the distance.
Here I am at the lake.
And Evan made it to the lake too.

Grand Valley - Evan: 13.5 miles, Jessica: 10 miles

With the month half over, we needed to put some extra miles in this weekend. So we decided to do some backpacking! We went to Grand Valley in the Olympic National Park and it was amazing! We saw deer, marmots, bears, wildflowers and lots and lots of mountains.

We are now over 63% of the way towards our goal to hike 50 miles in August! We are also at 38% of our goal to raise $650! Thanks so much to those who have sponsored us. Please consider sponsoring us so we can help the WTA help keep trails accessible to everyone!
The wildflowers and views were amazing.
Grand Lake. Wow!
It was hot so Evan and I took a dip in Moose Lake. It was cold!
Despite being made of wood, I don't float too well.

...joy!
Mmm, all this hiking and swimming makes me hungry!
We had a dinner guest.
Here I am at the top of Grandview Mountain. What a view!
Oh and Evan made it up to the summit too.

Colchuck Lake - Evan: 8.4 miles, Jessica: 8.4 miles

It was raining in Seattle so I suggested that we head over the mountains to do a sunnier hike. This time Evan and I were joined by Jessica. Here I am with her at the trail head. She sure is a beautiful hiker. We are now at 21.8 miles into our 50 mile goal for the Hike-a-thon. Thanks to all of the wonderful people that are supporting us!
We are here.
These cairns sure help you find your way.
Jessica and Evan take in the amazing views.
Colchuck Lake and Dragontail peak. So Amazing!
I once climbed Asgard pass in 15 minutes. It was so easy...
...ok, maybe that is not true.

Little Si - 5 Miles

August is here so it's time to start hiking! Evan and I started the Hike-a-thon by doing a quick hike after work up Little Si. It's 5 miles round trip so Evan and Jessica are officially 10% to their goal to hike 50 miles in August! While the trail is not far from North Bend and Seattle, its takes only a short while to get away from the sounds and sights of civilization and take in the green and quiet of the wilderness.
The trail is great. So well maintained!
Late sunlight in the forest.
Mount Si
I once climbed Mt. Si in an hour...
...Ok, not really.
I made it to the summit of Little Si!
And Evan made it too!
Thank You to all of our sponsors.  Your support is so much appreciated.
